About National Sports Academy
The National Sports Academy is a residential English Medium Co-educational School and was established in the year 2007 under the special package of the then Hon’ble Prime Minister of India at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal under the funding from Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India. The Academy has an Infrastructures viz; School Building, Hostels, Administrative Building, School Building, Boys’/Girls’ Hostels, Staff Quarters, Indoor Hall and Multipurpose Hall. Apart from these, all the stadia and other facilities located within the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex are available for the students of the National Sports Academy. However, expenditures for meeting salaries for employees, mess, sports equipment etc. of the Academy are met from the Grant-In-Aid received from the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Manipur.
The primary aim of the Academy is to nurture young talents of the Country through scientific training in 6 (six) prioritized sports disciplines i.e Archery, Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo, Wrestling & Weightlifting with an aim to produce world-class excellence in sports at International events. The Academy also imparts general education to the students from Classes VI to XII under 10 + 2 scheme of Education affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. The students of the Academy are provided free accommodation, food, sports equipment and educational facilities up to XII standard.
